unique individuals.
Darshan Sihota, President
Appointed President of Island Timberlands in April 2005, Darshan has
over 25 years of experience in the coastal forest industry including
operations management, silviculture, lumber marketing, production
planning, forest inventory, and log distribution. Darshan is a Registered
Professional Forester and holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration.
Ray Balogh, General Manager, Northern Operations
Ray has over 25 years in the industry, starting in the finance
side of the business, more recently in harvesting contract
supervision and general management roles. Ray has a finance
diploma from BCIT and is a Certified Management Accountant.
Jim Sears, General Manager, Southern Operations
Jim has over 30 years of coastal forest industry experience in engineering
and logging management. Jim holds both a Bachelor of Science in Forestry
and a Master's in Forestry specializing in advanced logging systems
from Oregon State University.
Bill Waugh, General Manager, Planning and Forestry
Bill was born and raised on Vancouver Island and has over 25 years
of coastal forest industry experience in engineering, forestry and
strategic forest planning. Bill has a Diploma in Forest Technology,
a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Alberta
and is a Registered Professional Forester.
Mike Cass, Director, Human Resources
Mike has over 30 years experience in the coastal forest industry covering
all the major business groups: pulp and paper, timberlands, and manufacturing.
Mike brings a wide breadth of knowledge in human resources and safety,
performing key roles in both of these primary functions. Mike has
an undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser in General Business Studies
and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Royal Roads.
Christopher Dawes, Director, Real Estate
Chris has over 20 years of experience in Real Estate development and
management. Chris is a Chartered Surveyor (The Royal Institution of
Chartered Surveyors) and is also a member of PMI, and holds a Bachelor
of Science in Surveying from the University of the South Bank, London,
England. Chris is responsible for all aspects of management and development
of Island's land holdings.
Scott MacLean, Director, Accounting and Finance
Scott brings 32 years experience in the coastal forest business having
held key roles in both timberlands and manufacturing. Scott is a
Certified Management Accountant.
Richard Ringma, Director, Marketing and Distribution.
Richard has over 30 years experience in the coastal forest
industry in various positions related to fibre management. Richard
has covered a broad range of duties over these years including
fibre planning, quality control, supply chain management,
logistics and marketing. In his previous role, Richard had
responsibility for Weyerhaeuser's coastal Fibre Supply and
Marketing group.
